NSCDC Dismisses 37 Officers, Sanctions 79 Over Misconduct

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sanctioned 79 personnel for breaches of service rules, with 37 officers dismissed. The disciplinary measures were announced by Commandant-General Ahmed Audi at the Corps’ headquarters in Abuja. The affected personnel include senior and junior officers. Penalties range from compulsory retirement to dismissal and possible criminal prosecution. The offences cited include job racketeering, illegal recruitment, financial misconduct, sabotage, theft, negligence, dishonesty and absenteeism. The Corps said two Mining Marshals operatives were among those dismissed after an investigation into a February incident involving illegal miners in Nasarawa State. It cleared the unit’s commander and other management staff of allegations of complicity. NSCDC also reported the arrest of 18 suspects over alleged pipeline vandalism, infrastructure sabotage and illegal firearms dealings. Investigations and legal processes are ongoing.
