Police Arrest 16 Suspected Cultists in Ibadan Polytechnic Raid

Police Arrest 16 Suspected Cultists in Ibadan Polytechnic Raid

Police in Oyo State have arrested 16 suspected cult members during an operation at the Polytechnic, Ibadan. Authorities say the suspects, linked to the Aiye confraternity, were intercepted while preparing for a gathering on campus. The raid was led by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, with the consent of school management. Officers recovered two homemade guns, two English pistols, 16 live cartridges, four axes and various charms from the suspects. Preliminary investigations reveal some of those detained were already on the Command’s watchlist for alleged involvement in murder and cult-related violence. Further inquiries are underway to identify additional members and dismantle the network.

Hard to believe that 16 suspected cult members could convene undetected on a polytechnic campus despite existing security measures.

We shouldn't assume every arrested student is guilty before a fair trial confirms the evidence against each individual.

Dem fit install better lighting and CCTV around campus, plus regular patrols, to deter secret gatherings and boost overall safety.
