FCT Police Arrest Pregnant Cook Who Supplied Kidnappers on Abuja Outskirts
The FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects connected to a kidnapping and banditry network near Abuja. Among them is a heavily pregnant woman who acted as cook and logistics supplier for the gang and their captives. Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi said the arrests followed a June 11 clearance operation in the Byazin area. Several bandits were neutralised, victims rescued, and suspects later tracked to a hideout about one kilometre from the FCT boundary. Recovered items include four motorcycles, large quantities of tramadol tablets, a POS machine, cooking utensils, five phones and ₦320,000 traced to a recent ransom. One suspect admitted his share was ₦320,000 of a ₦7 million ransom payment. The pregnant suspect was taken to the hospital, gave birth safely and remains under medical care. The command plans to demolish identified hideouts in collaboration with the FCT Administration and has declared additional bandits wanted.
