Akpabio Praises Tinubu’s Economic Reforms and Security Gains
Senate President Godswill Akpabio led senior lawmakers to President Tinubu’s Lagos residence during Eid-el-Kabir to celebrate and offer prayers for national unity and progress. He commended key economic overhauls, including the end of multiple exchange rates, removal of false subsidies, harmonisation of taxes and the elimination of long fuel queues. He described these moves as crucial for repositioning Nigeria’s economy. On security, Akpabio noted that no insurgent flag is hoisted anywhere in the country and that organised bombings have ceased. He acknowledged lingering guerrilla attacks and pledged National Assembly support to improve security through a state police framework and increased police funding. He also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects and called for a ramp-up in crude oil production to meet domestic refinery needs. The Senate leader assured full legislative cooperation for all positive initiatives.
