Ogun Waterside Residents Celebrate Gao Junction–Ibi-Ade Road Commissioning

Ogun Waterside Residents Celebrate Gao Junction–Ibi-Ade Road Commissioning

Residents of Ogun Waterside LGA have applauded the completion and commissioning of the Gao Junction–Ibi-Ade Road. This long-neglected route now features reinforced drainage, box culverts and fresh lane markings to improve durability and safety. Local leaders and traditional rulers said the modernised road will reduce travel time, cut vehicle maintenance costs and ease the movement of farm produce. They also highlighted the boost to local trade, jobs and investor confidence. The project is part of the administration’s wider infrastructure renewal programme, which has covered nearly 2,000 kilometres of roads across Ogun State.

It's great they added reinforced drainage and box culverts, but I wonder if maintenance funding will be enough to keep this road durable long term.

I'm not convinced that fresh lane markings alone will improve safety without proper traffic enforcement and signage along the route.

Local leaders should set up a simple inspection schedule and involve community members to report erosion or drainage blockages early.
