EFCC and DSS Probe Excel-LED Over N100m Airport Screen Contract Breach

EFCC and DSS Probe Excel-LED Over N100m Airport Screen Contract Breach — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Excel-LED Nigeria and its MD, Emmanuel Shoon Patrick (aka Sam Lee), face investigations by DSS, EFCC and ICPC over an alleged N100 million breach of an airport screen concession. The firm was hired to install airport-grade displays at Enugu, Port Harcourt and Abuja international airports. Sources say initial payments went into Patrick’s personal account. Only one screen arrived and later failed technical tests, while no further installations were delivered. After evading invitations for three months, Patrick and his associate Ndubisi were traced in Port Harcourt and flown to Abuja for questioning. Petitions from the concessionaire, Folio Media Group, allege fraud, corporate tax evasion and economic sabotage. Legal experts warn that diverting contract funds through personal accounts undermines tax compliance and costs Nigeria billions in cross-border infrastructure deals each year.

A N100 million breach allegation seems significant, but similar contract disputes often drag on without clear verdicts or accountability.

I'm not convinced a single company's breach should trigger military-style involvement by DSS alongside EFCC.

Companies handling public contracts should institute rigorous compliance checks and transparent reporting to avoid prolonged regulatory investigations.
