Children Aren't Automatic Blessings: Why Intentional Parenting Matters
Many Nigerians assume children will thrive on their own. But children need more than birth to succeed. In the past, neighbours, teachers and extended family helped raise kids. Today, that support has faded and the responsibility rests on parents. I remember a neighbour in Enugu who spent his days drinking and shouting at a shop. His daughters missed school and guidance. Children absorb our habits and environment before they heed our advice. Parenting demands focus on education, discipline, values, friendships and emotional growth. Without active guidance, outside influences shape young minds. Children are blessings, but they need structure, sacrifice and wisdom to flourish.
