Ondo Court Remands Nine Suspects Over Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery Allegations
Ondo Amotekun has arraigned nine suspects before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over separate allegations including attempted murder, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, burglary and receiving suspected stolen property. Five defendants were remanded over the alleged attempted murder of Akin Balogun on Saint Lukes Road, Akure, on July 25. Prosecutors alleged that the victim was stabbed in the hand and back. The case was adjourned to August 21 for hearing of the remand application. In a separate case, two defendants were accused of robbing a woman of ₦1.5 million and other items at Ala-Elefosan on July 5 while armed with a gun. They were also accused of possessing an unlicensed locally made firearm. The court ordered their remand pending legal advice and adjourned the matter to August 12.
