UN Ambassador Demands Justice After Warri Police Killing
United Nations Ambassador Dr. Leonard Obie has condemned the recent killing of a young man in Warri, Delta State. He stressed that no one should be presumed guilty until proven so by a competent court. Referencing Sections 33 and 36 of the Nigerian Constitution and UN standards on the use of force, the Ambassador called for proportionate, lawful action by security forces. He urged the Police Service Commission and other oversight bodies to conduct an independent, transparent investigation. Dr. Obie warned that unchecked use of lethal force undermines public trust in institutions. He appealed for accountability and due process to uphold human dignity and protect lives.
