Many on social media have attacked Remi Tinubu’s recent interview calling on graduates to “get busy.” Ironically, some of these critics often label others lazy and boast about transforming deserts into cities, yet they still dismiss her advice. Nigeria has long faced high graduate unemployment. During the Jonathan era, about 60% of my university peers couldn’t use their degrees and had to find alternative ways to stay occupied. If the government cannot hire every graduate, what happens to those left behind? Should they remain idle or pursue other activities to keep busy?
