Wike Rejects PDP Rift as Makinde Faction Launches New Peace Talks
With the March convention days away, the Wike-aligned camp insists the PDP remains united despite some grievances. Speaking in Abuja after visiting projects, Nyesom Wike said disagreements do not equal a split. Meanwhile, the Makinde-backed group, led by former minister Tanimu Turaki, has opened fresh reconciliation talks. They acted on a Court of Appeal advisory and set up a committee under the party’s Board of Trustees to resolve outstanding issues. The initiative has paused key meetings and cooled down confrontational rhetoric. Both sides have “broken the ice” and are ready to withdraw court cases once they reach a consensus to strengthen the party ahead of upcoming elections.
