When Satan Stands at Your Right Hand: Biblical Accusations and Christ’s Advocacy
The Bible often portrays Satan as an accuser standing at the defendant’s right hand in a heavenly courtroom. Psalm 109:6 and Zechariah 3:1 illustrate this vivid image. Revelation 12:10 even names him the “accuser of the brethren.” Satan brings our unconfessed sins, weaknesses, hypocrisies, and failures before God. His goal is to trigger divine judgment, as seen in the story of Job (Job 1:9–12). Today, two of Satan’s most common charges are sexual immoralities (fornication, adultery, pornography, homosexuality) and idolatry (ancestral worship). These sins can bury blessings and derail destinies. But we have an Advocate. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, our sins are forgiven and God’s judgment is satisfied (1 John 2:1). We must repent and give no place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27).
