PDP Tells Bode George It Has Moved Beyond ‘Self-Appointed’ Power Brokers
The Peoples Democratic Party has criticised former Deputy National Chairman Bode George over his comments on the party’s leadership, saying it has moved beyond the influence of “self-appointed power brokers.” In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP said George’s television remarks showed frustration with the party’s push for internal democracy, transparency and generational renewal. It defended National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed, saying the leadership had conducted a smooth primary process ahead of the 2027 elections. The party maintained that court decisions and INEC recognition had settled its leadership dispute. It also accused George of trying to challenge judicial rulings through the media, questioned his political record in Lagos, and cited an alleged ₦10 million cost order against him and other claimants. The PDP said disciplinary decisions could only be reviewed through its constitutional processes, adding that it would remain focused on rebuilding ahead of 2027.
