ABU to Honour Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen with Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award

According to a statement by the Public Affairs Directorate, Ahmadu Bello University will honour the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, GCON, with its Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award. The accolade recognises his contributions to the institution’s development. Dr. Tajuddeen supported projects such as a 60 KVA solar-powered mini-grid and upgraded sports facilities. He is one of 156 staff, alumni, and service units nominated for the 2025 awards by the University Reward and Recognition System Committee. Led by Prof. Sani A. Abdullahi, the committee applied established criteria to evaluate nominations from various university units. Its recommendations cover outstanding contributions by staff members, research groups, corporate bodies, and alumni. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed commended the committee’s thorough work and congratulated all awardees. He expressed confidence that this recognition will boost trust and inspire continued dedication.
