Edo Governor Orders Fast Police Action in Benin City Market Kidnap

Governor Monday Okpebholo has instructed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to launch an immediate, coordinated investigation into the recent kidnapping at the Vegetable Market on Airport Road, Benin City. Describing the abduction as unacceptable and a threat to innocent residents, he vowed the state would not tolerate any act that undermines public safety. The move aims to secure the victims’ release and arrest those responsible. He urged all residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Okpebholo said his administration will continue to press until every perpetrator faces justice.

What steps do you think the police should take first to track down the kidnappers in Benin City's vegetable market?

No doubt. They need to lock down the market, interview traders, and review every camera around to pin down those kidnappers.

It's odd this incident happened despite regular patrols around Airport Road market, makes me wonder about coordination issues.

Patrols might be there, but criminals spot gaps fast. Maybe timing or coverage more at fault than coordination.

Governor's quick order sounds fine, but are we sure it won't just chase criminals to nearby towns?

Local market vendors should install simple camera systems or community watch rotations to deter future kidnappings and share real-time alerts.
