Gunmen Kill Three Brothers on Night Patrol in Plateau Community

Three brothers serving as local vigilantes were reportedly killed when suspected gunmen attacked Tarai community in Jol village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack reportedly occurred at about 10:47 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The brothers, Dachung Danjuma, 51, Victor Danjuma, 37, and Nyam Danjuma, 35, were said to be on a routine night patrol to protect residents when the assailants opened fire. Community sources said the attack caused panic, forcing residents to flee their homes. A Berom youth group confirmed the incident and called on security agencies to strengthen protection for vulnerable communities in Riyom and bring those responsible to justice.
