Ogun Governor Urges NYSC Recruits to Harness Innovation and Patriotism
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, urged newly sworn-in NYSC Corps Members to embrace innovation, patriotism and discipline as they begin their national service. Represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development, he described the orientation course at Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, as both a privilege and a responsibility designed to instill leadership, teamwork and national consciousness. Under his “Building Our Future Together” agenda, Abiodun highlighted initiatives like the Ogun State Job Portal, agrologistics hubs, economic zones and the upcoming aerotropolis around Gateway International Airport. He said these projects will open new avenues for sustainable employment in manufacturing, agriculture, ICT and the creative industries. NYSC Ogun Coordinator Olayinka Diana Nasamu praised the discipline of the 3,045 registered Corps Members, noting that 2,243 were deployed in Ogun State and 802 transferred from Lagos. The ceremony concluded with the administration of the National Pledge and NYSC Oath by the Chief Judge’s representative, and a surprise birthday celebration for the State Coordinator’s protocol officer.
