Community Vigilantes Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims in Enugu’s Nsukka
Seven people abducted from the Ugwu Ashimokwu farming area in Ibagwa-Ani, Nsukka LGA, Enugu State, have reportedly been rescued by a community security team. A husband and wife were said to have been taken at about 5pm on Thursday and moved to a camp where five other victims were being held. After receiving information about the attack, the traditional ruler of Ibagwa-Ani allegedly mobilised local vigilantes, who combed suspected areas and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle. The kidnappers reportedly fled and abandoned the victims, who were rescued at about 11pm. Rep. Chidi Mark Obetta praised the monarch, vigilantes and Nsukka LGA leadership, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to security agencies.
