FG Launches Device Loan Scheme: How to Apply for Smartphones and Laptops

FG Launches Device Loan Scheme: How to Apply for Smartphones and Laptops

The Federal Government has opened applications for the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme. This initiative helps eligible Nigerians acquire smartphones, laptops and tablets through affordable consumer credit. The scheme is managed by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation in partnership with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. Its goal is to improve digital inclusion for students, remote workers, entrepreneurs and other young professionals. The pilot phase currently admits participants in the 3 Million Technical Talent initiative. Learners from digital skills programmes like Andela Learning Community, AltSchool Africa, HNG Internship and Genesys Tech Hub are also eligible. Additional programmes may be added in future phases.

I noticed the programme covers smartphones, laptops and tablets under consumer credit, but applicants must still meet eligibility criteria and manage repayments.

I'm not convinced this loan scheme will reach underserved communities effectively, especially given past rollout challenges and bureaucratic delays.

Start gathering your documents early and compare repayment terms before applying to avoid surprises once you receive your device.
