Africa will send a record ten teams to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Nine nations secured direct qualification by topping their CAF groups in October 2025. DR Congo clinched the final slot through the inter-confederation playoff. Qualified African teams: • Morocco • Tunisia • Egypt • Algeria • Senegal • Côte d’Ivoire • Ghana • Cape Verde • South Africa • DR Congo Nigeria’s Super Eagles will miss the tournament for the second consecutive edition after a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to DR Congo. Despite a squad featuring top European talent under coach Eric Chelle, the team fell short in both group play and the decisive playoff.
