Ex-boyfriend Stabs Malawi National in Verulam Over Love Triangle

A 26-year-old Malawi man was stabbed by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend at a home in the Redcliffe informal settlement, Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal. The attack happened around 1:00 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Reaction Unit South Africa officers arrived at the scene at 12:27 pm after the injured man’s partner called for help. According to the girlfriend, her former partner forced open the door and stabbed her current boyfriend twice. Fearing for his life, the victim hid in nearby bushes until dawn. His partner found him there and he received first aid before being privately taken to a local hospital. The couple reported that the suspect had made repeated threats and assaults after she ended their relationship. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
