774 National Health Fellows Still Await Federal Jobs 14 Months After Tinubu’s Promise

The 774 National Health Fellows selected from Nigeria's 774 local government areas say they are still without appointment letters more than 14 months after President Bola Tinubu told them they were hired. The fellows said the President approved their immediate absorption into the Federal Civil Service in June 2026. However, they said the Federal Civil Service Commission, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service and the Ministry of Health have yet to communicate the terms of their employment. According to the fellows, some resigned from existing jobs, rejected other offers, relocated and used personal funds while carrying out community health interventions under the programme. They have appealed for direct presidential intervention to ensure the approval is implemented and their appointment letters are issued.
