Boniface’s Brace and Tella’s Strike Inspire Leverkusen’s 7-0 Pre-Season Win

Boniface’s Brace and Tella’s Strike Inspire Leverkusen’s 7-0 Pre-Season Win

Victor Boniface marked his return from a long-term injury by scoring twice in Bayer Leverkusen’s 7-0 rout of German fifth-division side Sportfreunde Baumberg in their first pre-season outing. Coming off the bench, Boniface made it 4-0 in the 49th minute and added a second goal four minutes later. Nigerian teammate Nathan Tella, also introduced after halftime, wrapped up the scoring with the seventh in the 67th minute. Both players endured injury-hit campaigns last season, with Boniface failing to score in 11 appearances during his loan at Werder Bremen and Tella sidelined for extended spells.

Seven-nil wins against a fifth-division side don't always predict success against tougher opponents, even with impressive individual form.

Boniface looked sharp but people are so eager to crown him season savior already.
