Abia Governor Approves NOUN Study Centre in Aba
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has directed officials to secure a temporary site for a National Open University of Nigeria study centre in Aba while plans for a permanent facility are finalised. The move follows a request from NOUN Vice-Chancellor Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, highlighting the role of open and distance learning. Governor Otti emphasised that Aba’s status as a commercial hub warrants local access to NOUN’s programmes and pledged government support for site development and teacher training. The governor also asked the Tertiary Education Commissioner to work with the Umuahia study centre to improve facilities. NOUN’s leadership affirmed its commitment to expanding inclusive education through partnerships with state governments.
