Fourth Evacuation Flight Brings 271 Nigerians Home from South Africa
On Friday, July 3, 271 Nigerians arrived in Lagos after being evacuated from South Africa. They landed at Murtala Mohammed International Airport under the federal repatriation plan. This is the fourth such operation since anti-immigrant protests erupted in South Africa. Local demonstrators accused undocumented foreigners of taking jobs and fueling crime. So far, 874 Nigerians have been flown home. Officials say they remain watchful and ready to assist more stranded citizens.
