ADC Adopts Consensus for Congresses, Opens New Membership Registration

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has adopted consensus as its method for electing party executives ahead of ward, local government, and state congresses, as well as the national convention. The party says the move will strengthen unity, inclusiveness, and cohesion, in line with its constitution and the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended). ADC has opened membership registration for new members from Saturday, March 14 to Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Registration is at ward offices, and membership cards will be issued by the Continuous Membership Registration Committee. The exercise is for new members only. Existing members do not need to renew or revalidate. Ward congresses will hold on March 19. Local government congresses are slated for March 24, and state congresses follow on March 28. The national convention is scheduled for April 3–5, 2026, with issues from the convention to be resolved between April 6–10. The party has disassociated itself from any ongoing electronic membership mobilization, registration, or revalidation by coalition members. It urged the public to ignore unofficial processes pending the release of the official online registration portal. Further updates will come through official party channels.
