April 13 Judgment Set in Bid to Oust David Mark, Aregbesola from ADC Leadership

April 13 Judgment Set in Bid to Oust David Mark, Aregbesola from ADC Leadership

Justice Musa Suleiman Liman of the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed April 13 for ruling on a suit by House member Leke Abejide. Abejide seeks to bar Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from acting as African Democratic Congress interim chairman and secretary. Filed in February, the suit challenges the handover of party leadership by former ADC chairman Ralph Nwosu on July 2, 2025. Abejide argues that the process was unlawful and wants the court to nullify the transfer and restrain INEC from recognising the duo. ADC, Nwosu, Mark, Aregbesola and INEC all ask the court to dismiss the case. They argue the matter concerns internal party affairs and is non-justiciable, while also disputing the handover date and alleging the suit lacks merit.

Can you specify whether you're asking about internal party cohesion or public perception effects?

Say, would you say this judgment affects ADC's grassroots support more than its top leadership unity?

It's interesting that a member of the House is challenging leadership roles in a party's internal suit at the Federal High Court.

Regardless of the outcome, ADC should draft clear bylaws to prevent similar disputes from delaying party activities in the future.
