Two Rescued as Three-Storey Building Collapses in Port Harcourt
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that two people were pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building under construction along Odili Road in Port Harcourt. The incident occurred on Wednesday and one person is feared dead while several workers remain trapped. According to ASP Blessing Agabe, rescue teams are still clearing debris and cannot yet provide a final casualty count. Eyewitnesses suspect structural defects caused the collapse, and one survivor reported eight workers were inside when the building fell. Emergency responders from the State Ministry of Health, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC and the Federal Road Safety Corps mobilised ambulances to evacuate and treat the injured. Two severely hurt workers were taken to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, and excavation efforts continue to reach others still trapped.
