Olokola FTZ Revival: Aiyedatiwa's Committee Sparks New Investor Momentum
For years, the Olokola Free Trade Zone was viewed as an abandoned dream despite its huge economic potential. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration has now set up a dedicated Technical Working Committee to lay the groundwork and coordinate planning, policy alignment, and stakeholder engagement. Recent consultations between the Dangote Group, government officials, host communities, and investors show real progress. With the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway opening and a national push for the Blue Economy, Ondo State stands to attract billions in investment, create thousands of jobs, and boost local businesses. To sustain this momentum, Ondo State must build local capacity through training for engineers, maritime experts, and environmental specialists. Establishing a Coastal Development Agency and a comprehensive Blue Economy framework will help turn Olokola FTZ into a lasting catalyst for coastal and industrial growth.
