Simy to Host ‘Homecoming’ in Nkpor-Agu After Stellar Saudi Season
Former Super Eagles striker Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo will return to his hometown, Nkpor-Agu in Anambra State, for a special ‘Homecoming’ event on 21 June 2026. The celebration will honour his remarkable season with Saudi second-tier side Al-Orobah, where he scored 27 goals and provided four assists in 27 matches. The day begins with an 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Cross Parish, followed by an all-star novelty match at 4 p.m. on the United Primary School football field. Former internationals Uche Nwofor and Ogenyi Onazi, along with several other Nigerian stars, are expected to feature in the game. Simy rose from Nkpor-Agu to play in Portugal, Italy and Saudi Arabia, becoming the first African to finish as top scorer in Italy’s Serie B. He also represented Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He plans to give thanks for past successes and set his sights on even greater achievements.
