BUA Invests $85m in Port Harcourt Terminal to Handle 2m Tonnes of Imports Annually
BUA Group says it is investing $85 million to expand its Port Harcourt terminal in Rivers State ahead of a planned increase in raw-material imports for BUA Foods. Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu said the project is expected to be completed next year and will enable the company to import more than two million tonnes of raw materials annually. The expanded facility will include about 600 metres of seaside frontage. The Nigerian Ports Authority said the investment could raise cargo activity and revenue at eastern ports by 13 to 14 per cent. It added that the expansion supports efforts to reduce Lagos port congestion and spread maritime trade more evenly across Nigeria.
