Indian Panel Demands Zuckerberg Apology Over Brief Removal of Modi Video

An Indian parliamentary panel has demanded an apology from Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg after Facebook and Instagram briefly removed a July 23 video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing students during youth-led protests. The video was later restored, but BJP MP Nishikant Dubey described its removal as an attack on democracy. He said Meta must identify those responsible and apologise within three days. The panel also threatened to seek the removal of Meta's safe-harbour protection in India. This could expose platform officials to direct criminal complaints over user content.
