Army Arrests Five After Stray Bullet Kills Teenage Girl at Borno Wedding
The Theatre Command of Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, has arrested five suspects over the unlawful use of firearms at a wedding. A 14-year-old girl died after a stray bullet struck her inside her home at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital quarters. The shot was fired into the air by members of a vigilante group escorting a local government chairman during celebrations at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Teachers Staff Quarters. The tragic incident occurred on April 4 at around 2:00pm. Troops from Operation HADIN KAI, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, traced and apprehended Muhammad Husaini (28), Abba Jiddu (25), Abba Kolo Mohammed (20), Ali Adam (20), and Nura Mohammed (18) in the Ngomari area. They remain in custody pending investigation and prosecution under existing laws.
