TCN Boosts National Grid by 600MW with New Edo Transmission Lines
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has added 600 megawatts to the national grid after completing a strategic 330kV transmission project in Edo State. The Ihovbor/Benin and Ihovbor/Ajaokuta Turn-In-Turn-Out lines now link the Benin/Ajaokuta route to the Ihovbor Substation over 14 kilometres. This creates two fresh transmission paths and eases bottlenecks in the Benin power corridor. According to TCN’s Managing Director, the upgrade strengthens resilience, improves evacuation of power from Azura and Niger Delta plants, and allows distribution companies across Nigeria to access more bulk electricity.
