Should She Quit Her On-Site Lagos Job to Focus on Remote Work?
I’m seeking advice for my cousin who just completed NYSC and took a physical job around Lekki and Ikoyi. She earns ₦100,000 monthly but spends about ₦2,500 daily on transport—roughly ₦65,000 a month. That leaves her with only ₦35,000 for everything else. To save costs, she used to sleep in her company’s Ikoyi branch changing room during the week. Management has now banned overnight stays, so she’s back to covering full transport expenses and coping with Lagos traffic. She also has a remote job on the side, but the long hours and commute are making her miss deadlines. The remote role offers no travel costs and better growth potential. Should she resign from the physical job immediately and focus completely on her remote position? Or is there another strategy a fresh graduate could use to balance both in Lagos today?
