ECOWAS Approves New Leadership for 2026–2030 Tenure
The Economic Community of West African States has endorsed key appointments for its 2026–2030 mandate during the 69th Ordinary Session in Lungi, Sierra Leone. New commissioners will oversee Political Affairs, Economic Affairs, Internal Services, Infrastructure and Human Development. Five judges, including a Nigerian representative, were named to the ECOWAS Court of Justice. Additional roles filled include the Auditor-General for ECOWAS institutions and the Director-General of the West African Health Organisation. The summit also granted Nigeria extra time to finalise its nominee for ECOWAS Vice-President.
