Ikpeba Hails Super Falcons as Team to Beat in 2026 WAFCON

Ikpeba Hails Super Falcons as Team to Beat in 2026 WAFCON

Former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba believes the Super Falcons remain the team to beat at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Speaking on SuperSport’s Monday Night Football, he praised the quality of Falcons playing in Europe and across the globe. Ikpeba also commended the Nigeria Football Federation for securing a friendly against Senegal, saying it will help sharpen the squad after several failed attempts to arrange top-level warm-up games before the tournament kicks off on 25 July.

Global club experience doesn't automatically translate to cohesive national team play, though. Domestic league chemistry matters just as much for tournament cohesion.

The Falcons should integrate these Europe-based talents into friendly matches early, boosting team understanding before the WAFCON pressure intensifies.
