The Anambra State Police Command arrested four suspects in two operations across the state. Officers seized a locally made pistol, live ammunition, an axe, an Android phone and a black Toyota Camry used in the plots. On July 15, the Rapid Response Squad at Awkuzu arrested 32-year-old Okoye Ibegbunam Chukwuebuka JohnBosco—aka “Bone”—for his alleged role in a kidnapping at Okpanam, Asaba, Delta State. Search crews recovered a fabricated pistol, two live rounds, an axe and a phone with the victim’s photo as screensaver. The next day, RRS operatives and detectives from Ogbaru Division intercepted three men—Chekwube Chukwu (32), Amarachukwu Nwobosi (34) and Sopuluchukwu Ifeakor (30)—as they tried to abduct a female POS operator in Atani. Police rescued the woman, arrested the suspects and recovered their getaway Camry. Investigators say the trio also confessed to a June 3 abduction in Onitsha that netted a ₦3.5 million ransom. All four are now cooperating with ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling the syndicate. The Police Command urges residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly.
