Ondo State Withholds WASSCE Results, Expels Students Over Viral Sign-Out Chaos
The Ondo State Government has withheld the WASSCE results and school testimonials of 17 students featured in a viral sign-out video. The students from Oyemekun Grammar, Aquinas Secondary and CAC Grammar schools were seen tearing uniforms and chanting inappropriate slogans during post-exam celebrations. An emergency meeting by the Ministry of Education directed that the identified students’ results remain on hold and that their names be entered in school disciplinary records. Students not in the graduating class and those in the video have also been expelled. Principals have been asked to maintain a misconduct register, while senior officers from the affected schools face queries for failing to supervise the celebrations. The Commissioner for Education warned that celebrations must respect decency and uphold the integrity of the state’s education system. The ministry has summoned parents and students to issue official punishment letters, stressing that the sanctions aim to deter similar disorder in other schools.
