Nigeria Secures Hosting Rights for 2027 African School Games in Abuja

The Federal Government has signed a hosting agreement with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa for the 2027 African School Games. The ceremony in Abuja highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to develop grassroots sports and support President Tinubu’s vision to reset national sports. The National Sports Commission will work with the Federal Ministry of Education to build on initiatives like the Invited Junior Athletes programme and upgrade sporting facilities across the country. ANOCA leaders expressed confidence in Nigeria’s organising team. They praised the appointment of Lekan Abari as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and presented awards to the NSC Chairman and Director General for their contributions to sports development.
