Rep. Aguocha Demands National Assembly Debate Unconditional Release of Nnamdi Kanu
House member Obi Aguocha says securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu is his top duty. He vows to press on even as he prepares to campaign for re-election. Speaking in Umuahia, Abia State, Aguocha highlighted the economic neglect of the South East. He urged the federal government to invest in a seaport, rail links and other institutions to boost the region’s economy. He clarified that IPOB is not a terrorist group and blamed real terror on groups operating in the North. Aguocha rejected violent tactics, praising Nnamdi Kanu’s vision for peaceful development. He compared Kanu’s ongoing detention to the freedom of Sunday Igboho, asking why one remains jailed while the other supports the ruling party. Aguocha shared personal ties with Kanu from primary school days and family connections. He called on National Assembly leaders to take Kanu’s release seriously and warned that South East agitation will persist until marginalization ends.
