Former England winger Joe Cole believes the Three Lions have the pace and power to neutralise Lionel Messi and overcome Argentina in their World Cup semi-final in Atlanta. Argentina needed extra time to beat ten-man Switzerland, ending with goals from Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez. On The Rest Is Football podcast, Cole declared, “We’re going to put Messi to bed,” and insisted England will reach the final. Messi, yet to score at this tournament, called the clash special as he prepares for his first World Cup match against England.
