Meet Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu: NIA’s Historic First Female Chairperson

Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu was inaugurated as the 27th chairperson of the Nigerian Insurers Association, becoming the first woman to hold the role in its 55-year history. At her investiture in Lagos, the Rex Insurance managing director unveiled an A.C.E Agenda focusing on Awareness, Capacity building and Enforcement. She pledged to simplify insurance communication, promote industry-wide campaigns and ensure faster, fairer claims as a means to build public trust. She also called for stronger professional development, risk management, actuarial discipline and digital adoption. Strategic partnerships and coordinated awareness initiatives, aligned with regulator programmes, will help transform insurance into an everyday necessity for millions of Nigerians. The Commissioner for Insurance welcomed her leadership and backed measures for prompt claims settlement, stricter enforcement of compulsory cover and wider digital innovation. He affirmed ongoing collaboration to strengthen the industry’s credibility and contribution to economic growth.
