Daniel’s Loyalists Reject “Kangaroo” Endorsement of Abiodun for Ogun East APC Senate Ticket

Daniel’s Loyalists Reject “Kangaroo” Endorsement of Abiodun for Ogun East APC Senate Ticket

Supporters of Sen. Gbenga Daniel say Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s endorsement for the Ogun East senatorial ticket ignored APC due process. They describe the move as a “kangaroo arrangement” that could force Daniel to yield the party ticket. At a Sagamu press briefing, the group’s deputy director-general, Tayo Onayemi, argued that the APC constitution only allows consensus with written consent of all aspirants or direct primaries. He called any other endorsement invalid and unacceptable. They alleged key stakeholders, including Daniel, were barred from the meeting in Ijebu-Ode where Abiodun’s endorsement was announced. The loyalists claim this exclusion undermines party unity and democracy. The movement urged the APC National Working Committee to intervene, uphold party rules and ensure a fair process for all aspirants.

Calling it a 'kangaroo' deal seems dramatic. A bit of sparring might actually strengthen team bonds.

This endorsement does seem to bypass the usual APC nomination rules and could fuel more internal disputes.

Calling the endorsement a kangaroo move overlooks the governor's authority to rally party supporters and shape outcomes.
