Wild Elephant Kills Man, Another Missing in Innayin, Oyo State
Oyo State Police Command says one man died and another is missing after a wild elephant invaded Innayin community on April 23, 2026. Police officers, local vigilantes and hunters rushed to the scene and found 45-year-old Ibrahim Tijani’s body in a nearby bush. His remains were taken to the General Hospital in Iwere-Ile for examination. The police say Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin is still unaccounted for and a search is ongoing. Residents have been advised to avoid the area and report any elephant sightings immediately. Authorities, including the National Park Service, are now collaborating with the police to manage the situation safely. The Commissioner of Police has appealed for calm and assured the public of full measures to prevent further harm.
