Kogi Governor Launches Multi-Agency Rescue Operation for Abducted NECO Students and Principal

Kogi Governor Launches Multi-Agency Rescue Operation for Abducted NECO Students and Principal

Governor Ahmed Ododo has ordered a coordinated security operation to rescue four NECO candidates and the principal abducted from Government Secondary School, Olowa in Dekina Local Government Area. The effort is led by the governor’s security adviser and involves the Nigerian Army, police, DSS, state vigilantes, local hunters and other agencies. Advanced technology is also in use, and one victim has already been freed. The abductees are Elder Daniel Iyanaa, the school principal; NECO official Solomon Audu; and two candidates, Miss Dorcas Sunday and another female candidate named Dorcas. Initial findings indicate the remote exam centre was hosting external candidates. Residents are urged to provide reliable information and comply with security directives. Further details will remain confidential to protect the operation, and officials pledge to secure the safe release of all victims.

Exactly! With more hands on deck, coordination gets tighter and the rescue effort stands a better chance.

It's telling that the governor's office led this rescue effort—local security might be under-equipped or under-staffed for such challenges.

Coordinated operations sound reassuring, but previous state-level rescue attempts still ended without clear outcomes—hope this one breaks the pattern.

Nearby residents should note any strange vehicles or unfamiliar faces and report promptly, assisting security forces in narrowing down search areas.
