Lagos Woman Sues TikTok Influencer Peller for N395m over Defamation and Privacy Breach
A Lagos resident, Osarobo Odigie, has filed legal action against popular TikTok streamer Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat. She accuses him of defamation, cyber harassment and invading her privacy at Folixxx Lounge on January 6, 2026. In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, Odigie’s lawyers say Peller shouted insults at her in public, called her “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale” and “Ashawo,” then filmed her without consent. They allege the influencer shared the video across Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok and Instagram, igniting online ridicule and threats against her. The claimant is seeking N395 million in damages. This covers N200m for defamation, N100m for emotional trauma, N75m for cyberbullying and N20m for legal costs. She also demands the immediate removal of the video, a public apology on social media and in The PUNCH and The Guardian. Peller previously apologised on January 9 after the clip sparked criticism online. His response to the pre-action letter will determine if the matter proceeds to court.
