Jon Corzine is an American financier and former Democratic politician. He served as a U.S. senator for New Jersey from 2001 to 2006 and as the state’s governor from 2006 to 2010, before losing his re-election bid to Chris Christie. Before politics, Corzine built his career at Goldman Sachs, where he rose from bond trader to chief executive and senior partner. He later led MF Global until the financial services firm collapsed in 2011. Born on January 1, 1947, Corzine studied at the University of Illinois and the University of Chicago. He is married to Sharon Elghanayan, has three children, and is estimated to have a net worth of about $300 million to $350 million.
