15 Reportedly Killed as Armed Attackers Raid Benue Communities
At least 15 people were reportedly killed when armed attackers raided communities in Ugboju District, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. Several residents were injured, while others fled their homes as the attackers reportedly operated for hours before escaping. The killings have renewed concern over recurring violence in Benue’s rural communities. Despite security deployments, residents and local leaders continue to question why attacks persist and whether intelligence and emergency response systems are adequate. Beyond the death toll, the violence is displacing farming families and threatening livelihoods in a state widely known for agricultural production. Victims need protection, justice and sustained action to stop communities from facing the same tragedy repeatedly.
