President Tinubu Mourns with El-Rufai Over Mother’s Passing

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deepest condolences to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the loss of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away in Cairo after an illness. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late Hajiya Umma as a remarkable woman who raised a family that has served Nigeria with distinction. Having lost his own mother in old age, Tinubu said he understands the depth of El-Rufai’s grief. He prayed that treasured memories of her love, wisdom and guidance bring comfort to El-Rufai and his family. The President also expressed faith that she fulfilled her earthly purpose and asked Allah to grant her the highest place in Paradise. Nasir El-Rufai led Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 and previously served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
